Bed Time
Day 1:
Practice your new greetings with your child by wishing him or her goodnight Buenas Noches in Spanish. Try a new Spanish lullaby, and a book in Spanish to make a Spanish bedtime routine. Try out our dialogue for practice.
Day 2:
Children love to play pretend. Encourage your child to put their baby dolls or stuffed animals to sleep in Spanish. Many children love to play the “asleep, awake” game where they pretend to be asleep and then surprise you by awakening. Encourage your child to play this game by pretending to snooze (loudly!) yourself, then jumping up and saying “despierto!”
Day 3:
Take a trip outside at night and say “Dónde esta la luna? ¿Dónde están las estrellitas?” Practice your counting in Spanish by counting the stars
Day 4:
Arts and crafts are an easy way to learn some Spanish and make it fun. Try making a sun and moon mask our of paper plates. Or use a large cardboard box and turn it into day and night.
Day 5:
There are many good books about nighttime. Try some of the following: “Buenas Noches, Luna”, Margaret Wise Brown; “Es hora?” Marilyb Janowitz; “Buenas noches a todos,” By Lone Morton and Rosa Martin.
